Cattle yard questions?

Just some of the cattle yard questions we will ask

When you deal with M & M Stockyards you are dealing directly with the manufacturer.  You will soon discover that M & M Stockyards are not the average cattle and sheep yard manufacturer, we take the time to ask the relevant questions to ensure your stockyards are what you need and not just a combination of panels and gates. We pride ourselves on providing impeccable customer service from drafting your custom design to delivery and set-up on-site. Below are just some of the points or questions our friendly staff will cover before preparing your custom design cattle yard plan or quote:-

Material:  What rail material would you like your cattle yards manufactured in 50 x 50 rhs, 75 x 40 oval rail or 115 x 42 oval rail?

Heavy Posts:  We have an upgrade to our panel posts available, our standard posts are 1.6mm thick.  Would you like to upgrade this material to 2.5mm thick?

Cattle Crush:  What type of crush would you like to include in your new cattle yard system?

Weighing System:  Are you going to be weighing in the cattle yard system?  We may need to modify the design to accommodate for weighing.

Cattle Loading Ramp:  We have a range of cattle loading ramps which one would you like included?

Calf Race and Cradle:  Do you want a separate calf race in your cattle yards? Do you need a new calf cradle?

Race Walkway:  Our cattle races can be fitted with a raised man walkway would you like to include a cattle race walkway?

Extra Slide Gate in the race:  Do you want a slide gate in the cattle race one section back from the crush?

Side Loading Trucks:  Do you need to side load your cattle trucks? We may need to modify the cattle yard system to accommodate this.

Slam catch on the rear of the force:  Would you like us to put a slam catch gate on the rear of your force section?  When we do this we upgrade the frame on the gate to a heavy duty frame.  Depending on the design of the yards, we have a few different ways of manufacturing these.

3-Way Drafting Section:  Some of our designs allow for a 3 way drafting section to be placed in front of the crush.  Would you like to include this?

Force Yard Reduction Gate Section:  This gate reduces the size of your force yard would you like this included?

Delivery and Set-up:  We have our own truck fitted with a HIAB crane that allows us to deliver your yards to the site where you need them and we will stay and help you set up your yards if you would like us to.

And finally:  How did you hear about us?  Are you a repeat customer? or did you see us on the Internet? At Ag-quip Field Days? on a Roadside Sign? or did one of our other wonderful customers recommend us?

M & M Stockyards are not just selling cattle yard panels and gates we take the time to discuss your particular needs and customise our cattle yards to suit you.

Choosing and preparing your cattle yard or sheep yard site.

Preparing your stockyard site

We find that a high percentage of yard sites have not been prepared adequately. Your site needs to be on a level plane with a slight fall – no more than 1:50.  Example: 1m fall over 50m, 500mm over 25m or 250mm over 12.5m.

When preparing your site for the yards we suggest you put a base down using a local road base, this is critical if the yards are going onto heavy soil (black soil). If the yards are going onto a site that does not need preparation, please ensure the site is slashed or free of long grass and weeds. Make sure the site is large enough to include the loading ramp.
